| She Sells Sea
Shells-
I was walking along the beach at Torre Pines north of San Diego a couple
of years ago picking up sea shells like everyone else. Suddenly I saw this
fragment of a shell and it seemed more beautiful to me than all the
others. I knew almost what the necklace would look like before I
left the beach. It took me a while to find the beads I wanted but
here is the finished product. I really like it.
I wrapped the shell with coiled
sterling silver wire and highlighted its mellow ivory color with a
beautiful sea colored lampwork bead and some tiny glass beads. The
chain has waves of sterling silver and some ivory lampwork beads that have
the color and feel of sea shells. To add to the feeling of the sea,
I have also included a sterling silver fish and seashell.
The sterling wire was given a patina so the whole necklace looks like a
treasure found on the beach.... perhaps lost by a passing mermaid!
The necklace is " long and fastens
with a handmade sterling clasp accented with more silver and some matching
tiny glass beads. |
