| A Walk In the
Woods With Harold- Harold William Cooney, the artist who
created this bead makes extraordinary glass vessels that I would love to be
able to afford. His blog chronicles his travels to learn more about
the art of glass. He's been as far as Italy and Japan to add to his
skills. This bead is so hard to
photograph. I tried the light background and the dark background and
neither captures the luster and depth of this hollow bead. It makes
my think of a trip to the Sequoia National Forest. The sunlight
filtered through the giant trees made a shady bower of pine needles,
gigantic fallen logs and beautiful, striking ferns everywhere. Harold uses classic Italian glass
methods to create these amazing focals. I tried to keep the rest
simple but complementary by using beads in the same colors as the bead.
To wrap the core of the bangle I used both copper and sterling wires.
I usually give the wire a patina but did not on this bangle because I
think just the patina that comes with age is going to make this blend of
metals wonderful. This bangle fits up to a 6.5"
wrist. $83.00 |
